assive Arts Studios was founded in Hollywood in 1974 by two guys who had a love for the Lifestyle but no where to go. The first Studio was a little two room office on Gower Street and Sunset Blvd with minimal hand made furniture and a few implements. It was the first commercial Studio to advertise in the United States. One of the very first ads that was created for the Los Angeles Free Press was created by Lady Elizabeth who was the advertising manager at the press at the time and 25 years later became the general manager of Passive Arts. It featured sessions for $ 12 and $ 15 for 1 hour. In 1976, a number of our Ladies were featured in the film "Hardcore" with George C. Scott and later that same year were featured in a story in Penthouse Magazine on the same movie. It gave the Studio a National presence at the time.

In the year 2000, Passive Arts Studios was resurrected by one of it's original founders in a 7000 square foot warehouse that was totally gutted and rebuilt with what has become the largest, most elegant and best equipped play area in the Nation. In addition to sessions that are offered, Passive Arts has played host to numerous events, organizations and Lifestyle play parties over the years. It has featured speakers and presentations from virtually every segment of the BDSM community and such luminaries as Midori, Jack Rinella, Guy Baldwin, Fakir, Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy have signed the presenters wall.

John has often said that Passive Arts is like an adult Disneyland in that it will never be completed. Several months ago, the Studio came full circle when the Playboy Channel filmed a segment on the Studio for their show "Sexecetera". Passive Arts will continue to grow as it reaches more and more into the Lifestyle with it's video production unit and it's soon to be pay per view site. Many, Many years ago, John once said that Passive Arts is the place where all your fantasies can come true and that is more true now than ever before.
